Lucknow: The UP Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) on Friday said licences of 86 food establishments, which had been suspended for flouting rules, have now been restored.
The department also reported positive outcomes of the ‘Shuddh Hi Shubh Hai’ campaign, which was launched on Sept 17, 2026. Since Sept 17, a total of 3,035 inspections have been conducted across the state. During these inspections, licences of 112 food establishments were suspended, while 1,752 improvement notices were issued. The restoration of licences of 86 establishments after rectification of deficiencies is a positive outcome of the campaign.
“Of the 112 food establishments whose licences had been suspended, the licences of 86 have been restored after they addressed the deficiencies and departmental verification confirmed compliance,” a department spokesperson said. Dr Roshan Jacob, secretary and commissioner of FSDA, said the objective of the ‘Shuddh Hi Shubh Hai’ campaign is not to harass food business operators or shut down their businesses. These establishments made the necessary improvements in their practices and were allowed to resume operations after being found compliant with standards during departmental testing and verification,” she said.
Under the campaign, food establishments found operating in unhygienic conditions were penalised by the department. “The department wants every person associated with the food business in the state to comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and prescribed standards.
