Kanpur: Food Safety and Drug Administration teams conducted raids on food establishments on Friday and seized around 3,038 kg of food items worth Rs 1.60 lakh over suspected quality concerns. Another team seized 25 kg of chilli powder worth Rs 5,000 from another shop in Rooma. A team also seized 5 kg of singhara atta and 8 kg of kuttu ka atta.

Assistant commissioner, Food Safety, Sanjay Pratap Singh said all the collected samples had been sent to a laboratory for testing. The raids were conducted to check the sale of substandard food products and ensure availability of safe and quality food items to the public, he said. One team raided a cold storage and seized around three quintals of kuttu ka atta on suspicion. Samples of singhara atta and kuttu ka atta were collected from shops in Bengali Mohal, Lajpat Nagar and Kalyanpur. Another team collected samples of peanuts and ghee from a shop in Vishnupuri.
