Kochi : City police investigating a sexual assault case filed against a doctor have recovered explicit visuals of multiple women from his phone.
The accused, Dr Johnson Varghese, had earlier filed a complaint that a group of 12 people, including two actors, had assaulted and robbed him of valuables, including mobile phones, after luring him to a flat in Ponnurunni.
Efforts are on to trace him,” said a senior officer. Three people were arrested in this case, including the actors. The complainant in the sexual assault case is a relative of one of the accused in the robbery case. The police have recovered the phones as part of the investigation. Meanwhile, the police have initiated the procedure to issue a lookout notice against the doctor who is absconding. “After he filed the complaint at Kadavanthra police station, he went incommunicado. However, the magistrate court rejected their application for bail, considering the police argument that they have to investigate the case as it was at a nascent stage.
Meanwhile, the accused in the robbery case moved court on Saturday seeking bail.
Hence, it needs to be investigated if the visuals retrieved from the phone were relating to any other crime,” said a senior officer. “We have recovered the visuals of multiple individuals. However, apart from the survivor in the case, we have not received complaints from any other women.
The doctor will be taken into custody as soon as possible and questioning him could reveal more details,” said an officer. “Since there are two versions relating to the incident, we need to conduct a detailed investigation before reaching a conclusion.
