Mysuru district minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah visited KR Hospital in Mysuru on Saturday
Mysuru: Mysuru district minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Saturday inaugurated a new 15-bed intensive care unit at KR Hospital in Mysuru, expanding its critical-care capacity amid rising patient numbers. Now the hospital authorities have opened a new facility with another 15 beds and also recruited the necessary staff, he said. Because of inadequate emergency and trauma care and a shortage of specialists, the existing 30-bed ICU in the hospital’s old building records 70 to 80 critical-care patients daily, with local hospitals referring cases.
Yathindra said the additional facility would help one of the region’s biggest hospitals provide quality tertiary and critical care to patients from Mysuru and surrounding areas. Yathindra said govt would strengthen KR Hospital by improving infrastructure and healthcare facilities, installing modern equipment, recruiting necessary staff and addressing other impediments to quality services. Meanwhile, Yathindra said that govt is committed to ensuring quality healthcare facilities to all its citizens.
The new ICU has modern equipment and necessary staff. He was speaking after holding the meeting with Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute top brass. During the meeting, the minister interacted with the staff, discussed various issues the hospital and its management were facing including the shortage of staff, other administrative hurdles, its maintenance and operations among other issues. The minister directed hospital staff and management to provide all necessary quality treatment in the hospital with commitment as the majority of the patients the hospital is receiving are from poor economic and social backgrounds.
