Palakkad : Three CPM members, including Muthalamada local committee secretary E Brijesh, have been suspended from the party for allegedly consuming alcohol inside its office at Muthalamada in Kollengode. Kollengode block panchayat vice-president and CPM area committee member K Siyavudheen and Muthalamada panchayat member and local committee member K Vinesh reached the office after receiving information about the drinking. They reportedly found the three consuming alcohol. Area committee leaders and party workers had also approached the district leadership demanding action against Brijesh. The emergence of the visuals prompted the district leadership to suspend the three members.
Party leaders had reportedly received complaints earlier that the local committee office was regularly being used for drinking sessions. CPM Palakkad district secretary V Chenthamarakshan took action against Brijesh and party workers Suryaprakash and Rasheed after visuals of the alleged drinking session surfaced on Sunday. The incident occurred on Saturday evening.
