Fire erupted in a battery room on the third floor of the Tata Communications office in Greater Kailash-I.
NEW DELHI: Blaze broke out in a battery room on the third floor of an office building in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash-I early Friday morning, prompting the deployment of 11 fire tenders, officials said. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a call about the fire at around 2.47am from the Tata Communications office located opposite Savitri Cinema, according to an official statement. The fire was confined to the battery room, spread across nearly 200 sq ft on the third floor of the multi-storey building, officials said.
No civilian injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Officials said the building comprises a ground floor and five upper floors. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited, officials added. Download the TOI App.
During the firefighting operation, two firefighters suffered burn injuries to their hands and were shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. The blaze was brought under control by around 7am, following which cooling operations were carried out to prevent any possibility of reignition.
