The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Gorakhpur : A dispute involving employees of an onion and potato trader at Mahewa mandi under the Ramgarhtal police station limits has snowballed into allegations of verbal abuse, assault and death threats, with CCTV footage of the incident surfacing.

Trader Kalim Ahmad alleged that the incident occurred around 6 pm on Aug 21 following an argument over parking a vehicle outside his shop.

A group of men arrived at the premises and allegedly abused his employees, according to the complaint. The trader said the incident has created an atmosphere of fear among his staff and other traders operating in the market. When they objected, the accused allegedly assaulted them and threatened them with dire consequences. Ahmad later met SP city Nimish Patil and apprised him of the incident. The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case. The complainant maintained that the footage clearly captures the movements of those involved in the incident. Several traders, including office-bearers of the Pragati Sabzi Thok Vikreta Samiti, extended support to the complainant and demanded a fair probe and strict action against those found guilty. Police are examining the CCTV footage and the complaint as part of the investigation.
