Nagpur: The United Forum of Bank Unions UFBU, the apex organisation of bank employees and officers, has called for a nationwide strike on Sept 11 over its long-pending demands, alleging that positive steps are not being taken by the bank management and the govt.

The bank employees will start the strike on Friday, Sept 11, followed by regular holidays on Saturday and Sunday. As some states also have a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi on Sept 14, bank operations may remain suspended for several consecutive days. UFBU, a joint forum of 9 major bank unions, said its key demands include a 5-day week, addressing disparity in the performance-based incentive scheme for bank employees, improvement and updation in pension, implementing a uniform dearness allowance formula for all pensioners, and providing NPS-holder employees option to choose old pension scheme.
