Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : More than 800 bank employees, including a large number of women staffers, under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) observed a one-day token strike in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Friday, pressing for the implementation of a five-day work week and the rollback of govt’s revised Performance-Linked Incentive (PLI) structure.
UFBU said bank employees continued to work six days a week despite growing workload, staff shortages and increasing responsibilities related to govt schemes. “The demand for a five-day week has been pending for years and was accepted in the bipartite settlement, but implementation is awaiting approval from the finance ministry,” union leader Kailas Kanade said. They argued that employees of Central and state govts, RBI, Nabard and LIC already enjoyed a five-day work week.
