The 17-year-old girl had been in a relationship with a 27-year-old man, who is her relative, for more than four years, according to police. When their parents found out about their relationship, they conducted their wedding on July 13, 2025. Based on the information provided by the girl, police registered a case against the man who married her, his parents and her parents under various sections of the POCSO Act and Section 9 of Child Marriage Act.
COIMBATORE: Five people have been arrested on charges of conducting the marriage of a minor girl near Pollachi in Coimbatore district. After the marriage, the girl and the man were living in Pollachi. They informed the Valparai all-woman police about it. Police rushed to the hospital and conducted an inquiry.
The girl visited the district headquarters hospital in Pollachi on Monday for a check-up, during which the doctors found that she was two months pregnant.
