Lucknow: The UP government has activated helpline number 1070 to assist residents of the state stranded in Nepal following severe floods and related natural disasters in the neighbouring country.

The government appealed to people to promptly inform authorities about relatives or acquaintances stranded in Nepal by calling the 1070 helpline. The state government has also initiated coordination at the diplomatic level to facilitate the safe return of affected citizens and ensure timely support. Describing the devastation caused by the floods in Nepal as a matter of concern, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district administrations in the border areas to remain on high alert and ensure all necessary preparedness. Officials have been asked to continuously monitor water levels in the Gandak and Narayani rivers, which could be affected by the situation across the border. The chief minister also expressed concern over the loss and damage caused by the disaster and prayed for the safety and well-being of those affected.

The relief commissioner’s office on Wednesday said family members of stranded persons can contact the helpline for assistance.
