New Delhi: A 30-year-old man allegedly jumped into a drain in east Delhi ’s Kanti Nagar Monday following a dispute with his wife, police said. His mother, who was reportedly chasing him and trying to stop him, witnessed him jump into the drain.
A preliminary inquiry has been launched and family members are being questioned to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
Police said he had been distressed over a marital dispute, following which his wife had been living separately with their children. Police said the body was sent to the mortuary for postmortem. The deceased, Naseem Khan, lived with his parents, wife and three children in Kanti Nagar and worked at a jeans factory in Gandhi Nagar. After receiving information, police reached the spot and called in divers to search the drain. After an extended search, Naseem was pulled out unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
