Game Changer Wrestling announced that he would make his GCW debut at Top Play in Omaha, Nebraska.
On August 8, 2026, WWE wrestler Natalya Neidhart said Avery was “paying his dues”. However, F1RST Wrestling owner Arik Cannon accused the youngster of “skirting responsibility”. Avery made his debut at Squared Circle Action Wrestling’s Freedom Fling event in Georgia. He defeated Ashton Martin in the main event. He later appeared for Game Changer Wrestling before making another major move. Avery Jones competes under the ring name Avery Styles. He made his first major appearance for Squared Circle Action Wrestling and defeated Ashton Martin. Avery’s early matches have already taken him beyond his hometown. He went on to compete for the promotion as he continued gaining experience on the independent scene. His progress has also sparked discussion among wrestling veterans.
He said that his son was paid to wrestle and not to set up the ring. He claimed that the young wrestler had “earned his spot” despite being a rookie. AJ Styles responded to the criticism. GCW owner Brett Lauderdale later defended Avery.
