Chennai: Tamil Nadu govt has named eight ministers and senior IAS officers to monitor development works, flood preparedness and disaster management across Chennai’s 15 zones.

Highways minister Aadhav Arjuna will oversee the entire Chennai, while minister Ramesh will be in charge of Thiruvottiyur and Manali; Lokesh of Madhavaram and Tondiarpet; Arunraj of Royapuram and Thiru Vi Ka Nagar; Vijay Balaji of Ambattur, Anna Nagar and Teynampet; TK Prabhu of Kodambakkam and Valasaravakkam; Vijay Parthiban of Alandur and Adyar; and K Vignesh of Perungudi and Sholinganallur. Separately, one senior IAS officer has been assigned to each GCC zone. The officers will coordinate with the GCC commissioner and monitor vulnerable areas, relief material and personnel deployment, sanitation, traffic and logistics, medical assistance and emergency shelters. The ministers and the officials will inspect flood hotspots, stuck civic projects and coordinate with officials to expedite them. Download the TOI App.
