Chennai: A 19-year-old college student died at Government Stanley Hospital early Wednesday, a day after his motorcycle rammed another two-wheeler near the Puzhal flyover while he was returning home after attending an Onam celebration at his college.
Mani, who was riding behind, crashed into the motorcycle, lost control and fell on the road.
As the vehicle approached a curve on the Puzhal flyover, Lokesh applied the brakes, police said. The deceased, Manickam Mani, son of Vadivelu, was a resident of Athikulam Street in Mathur near Madhavaram. He was a third-year student at a private college in Madhavaram. When the vehicle reached Puzhal, another motorcycle ridden by Lokesh , an employee of a private company, was travelling ahead of them with two others riding pillion. He suffered serious injuries to his chest and hip. Personnel from the Madhavaram traffic investigation wing rushed to the spot and took him to Government Stanley Hospital. Mani succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday.
Police said Mani and his friends left the college on two motorcycles after the Onam programme on Tuesday and were heading home.
