Elon Musk's X saw its former head of product, Nikita Bier, become: The wider industry impact

This happened after users discovered that Bier was offering personalised consulting to startup founders through Intro, a website that connects users with business experts for paid video calls. Access to Bier’s advice is limited to venture-backed startup founders, and sessions start at $7,500 for 15 minutes, with a 30-minute minimum required, a Fortune report noted. That structure means Bier, who stepped back from his role at X earlier this month but continues to advise the company, is effectively charging $15,000 for 30-minute sessions that can cover at least three questions related to startups, growth, investing, virality, or fundraising. Bier is a serial entrepreneur who has sold two startups to major technology companies and later worked with Musk at X. In 2017, Facebook, now Meta, acquired tbh, Bier’s anonymous polling app for teenagers, for an undisclosed sum reportedly around $30 million. Bier later created Gas, an anonymous compliment app that followed the same premise, which Discord acquired in 2023 for an undisclosed sum. 1 on the App Store, achieving millions of downloads. Following those exits, Bier joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as a product growth partner. Last year, he launched a new company, Explode, a mini-app built into Apple’s Messages platform that allows users to send disappearing messages. Bier became head of product at X in 2025, after publicly requesting the role from Musk in a post shared in 2022. During his time in the position, Bier has said he oversaw 30 new product launches. Bier was also embroiled in disputes during his time at X, including with the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union. The Commission hit X with a 120 million euro ($140 million) fine in December 2025 under the Digital Services Act, citing worries that the platform’s blue tick mark verification system was misleading among other allegations. Following the fine, Bier accused the Commission of violating the platform’s advertising rules and stated in a post on X that the Commission’s ad account had been terminated. Alongside Bier, the Intro platform also lists Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian and Andrew Chen, a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, among its roster of paid advisors.

The platform states that users will “find value in your first session or y our money back.” Intro was founded in 2020 by Raad Mobrem, who had previously sold his startup Lettuce to Intuit. Mobrem said he was inspired to start Intro after working on his home during the pandemic, when he “wished that I could jump on a video call with a world-class interior designer, show them my project, and get their quick advice, according to the company’s website. Elon Musk’s X saw its former head of product, Nikita Bier, become the subject of discussion on the microblogging site this week.
