Along with the mayor, corporation development standing committee chairperson Shakyta Suresh Babu, and councillor Xavier P Antony were also present, he said. “The mayor assured that intervention would be made to take necessary measures to avoid the accidents that have been continuously occurring in this stretch, and that an urgent meeting of the Traffic Police and officials of Kochi Metro and PWD would be convened for the same,” Chandran said.
“The back to back accidents have claimed several lives. We have to take urgent steps to prevent the accidents. It is the unscientific design of the road coupled with speeding, obstruction of view caused by metro pillars and sharp curve in the area that cause the recurring accidents. We discussed the issue,” he added.
