Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Pune and Mumbai Unit, has seized suspected amphetamine and MDMA worth around Rs 3.4 crore from a woman passenger at Pune Railway Junction and arrested her.
Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officers intercepted the Indian passenger in the early hours of Aug 25. A detailed search of her baggage led to the recovery of 2,532 gram (gross weight) of a white/yellow crystalline substance suspected to be amphetamine and 878 gram (gross weight) of tablets of different colours suspected to be 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). The seized substances were collectively valued at approximately Rs 3.4 crore. The narcotics were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

She was travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi and was passing through Pune when officers intercepted her based on the intelligence input. The passenger was subsequently arrested, and further investigation is underway to establish the source of the drugs, their intended destination and other persons potentially involved in the alleged trafficking network.
