Deoria police in Lucknow have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a sub-registrar and five accomplices. The charges stem from their alleged involvement in executing a land deed utilizing forged documents in the Rudaipur area of Deoria district. This incident raises concerns about the integrity of land transactions and the potential for fraudulent activities in property dealings.
On July 8, her brother-in-law Ram Surat Kushwaha allegedly used a fake voter identity card and other forged documents to produce another woman in her place and execute a gift deed for the disputed land in favour of Savitri Kushwaha, wife of Amit, a resident of Danopur under Deoria Kotwali police station, according to her complaint.
Police said the preliminary investigation found the complaint to have prima facie merit. Police said the allegations, including the preparation and use of forged identity documents and the role of officials in the registration process, are being investigated. The action was taken on the directions of the superintendent of police after a woman complained of alleged fraud involving her property. Complainant Sonmati Devi, wife of Om Prakash Maurya and a resident of Faridpur village under Madanpur police station, approached police alleging that her land had been transferred without her consent through a fabricated deed. The deed was allegedly executed at the office of the sub-registrar, Rudrapur. Sonmati Devi further alleged that employees of the sub-registrar’s office were involved in the alleged fraud. She specifically accused the office’s sub-registrar, a clerk and a retired employee of facilitating the registration using forged documents. Following her complaint, the superintendent of police ordered an inquiry into the allegations. Based on the findings and the SP’s directions, police registered an FIR against sub-registrar Shashikant Saroj, clerk Manoj Srivastava, Gorkh Tiwari, Keshav of Akatahia, Ram Surat Kushwaha and Savitri Devi.
