Lucknow: A poignant portrayal of loneliness experienced by two widowed individuals was showcased in the play ‘Hi Handsome.’ The performance took place at IBRC on Thursday and was organized by Rasrang Cultural and Educational Organisation, with support from the Uttar Pradesh culture department.
Yadav said the distinct identity of the play lies in its humour. Directed and written by Sarita Yadav, the play used comedy to underline the loneliness that often surrounds old age.

The plot of the play revolves around retired Army officer Colonel Kapoor, who is left lonely after the death of his wife. His son, Swami, remains deeply involved in religious activities, while his daughter-in-law, Manda, is too occupied to spend time with him. In the middle of this loneliness, Colonel Kapoor finds a companion in Sita Devi, his son’s mother-in-law, who visits him occasionally. Their conversations slowly grow into love and the two decide to marry. When the duo return home as husband and wife, Swami and Manda are shocked and angry. Hurt by their response, Colonel Kapoor asks them to leave the house. As the family conflict unfolds, Swami and Manda gradually realise their mistake. Download the TOI App.
