Preparations gather pace at Thacker Dome, the venue for the three-day Kumbh Bhakti Sangam festival starting Friday
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is scheduled to inaugurate the festival at the Thacker Dome on Trimbak Road at 4.30 pm. Shekhar Singh, commissioner of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA), stated on Thursday that entry is free on a first-come, first-served basis, with seating available for approximately 4,500 people. The opening day will feature a kirtan by Amritashram Swami Maharaj from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by Rahul Deshpande’s Abhangwari presentation from 8pm to 10pm. On Aug 29, a bhakti conference will be held, featuring sessions on the role of the saint tradition in national identity and social harmony. This follows a walkout on Tuesday by approximately 70 Nashik Municipal Corporation corporators, who left in protest after waiting nearly 90 minutes for a Kumbh-related presentation.

Commissioner Singh said comprehensive arrangements have been made for traffic, parking, and crowd management. Visitors are urged to use designated parking zones, follow police instructions, and arrive early for evening programmes. Organisers have also appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness and refrain from using tobacco products at the venue.
