Bengaluru: The ‘peptide party’ planned in Bengaluru on Aug 29, which had drawn mixed responses online, has been cancelled after the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) inspected the organisers’ company and issued a notice.
The invite-only event was capped at 50 members and was to feature music, food and networking, according to social media posts by the hosts. Expired food seized from college hostel canteens Food safety officials inspected 34 canteens and kitchens operating in govt and private medical college hostels across the city Thursday and issued notices to five establishments for various violations. During the inspections, officials found labelling-related violations in one canteen and seized 7kg of expired rava and 8 litres of expired milk stored in the kitchen.
Billed as the first event of its kind in Bengaluru, the party was to feature “peptide tastings” and was scheduled for 6.30pm Saturday in Koramangala. Authorities said legal action is being initiated against the food business operator concerned under the Food Safety and Standards Act and related regulations. The posts were taken down Friday. The inspections were part of ongoing efforts to ensure food safety and hygiene standards in hostel kitchens catering to students. The case will be placed before the adjudicating officer, the additional deputy commissioner’s court, for further proceedings.
