Ahmedabad: A 27-year-old land dealer has approached Adalaj police alleging that 11 people subjected his father to prolonged financial and mental harassment, took control of several properties through disputed transactions and ultimately drove him to suicide in Jan 2025. Around 28 properties acquired between 2014 and 2024 had been transferred in favour of several accused.

The complainant told police that sale deeds recorded consideration amounts, but the money shown in bank transactions was subsequently transferred back to accounts controlled by the accused or their associates. The complainant joined his father’s business around three years before his death. The deceased too was a land dealer and operated from his offices in Ahmedabad and Jamnagar, according to the complaint filed on Thursday.

On Jan 10, 2025, the father was rushed to a hospital in Vaishnodevi area for vomiting and breathing difficulties. The case took a different turn when, on Jan 21, the family found a sealed envelope among the deceased’s belongings containing two handwritten suicide notes. The complainant alleged that this accused and his family were demanding Rs 3.5 crore and threatening his father.

Doctors declared him dead during treatment. At the time, his family did not suspect foul play and did not seek a postmortem, the complaint states.
