Kochi : A 56-year-old man was arrested by the Kalady police for allegedly cheating a lottery vendor by tampering with a lottery ticket and misappropriating money.
Police said Shaji altered the number on a lottery ticket and convinced the seller that it had won a Rs 5,000 prize. He then allegedly took lottery tickets worth Rs 2,300 and Rs 2,700 in cash from the seller. The incident took place on July 5. Police said Shaji has 13 cases registered against him at the Kottarakkara, Chadayamangalam, Parippally, Pooyappally, Kottiyam, Kayamkulam and Ernakulam South police stations. Man held with MDMA : A 42-year-old man was arrested with 4.33g of MDMA near the Edappally overbridge as part of Operation Toofan on Saturday. The accused is Ziyad, 42, of Edappally.
He was arrested within days of being released on bail in another drug-related case registered at the Kalamassery police station, said police. The accused was arrested following a scientific investigation. The investigation team comprised SHO A Ajmal, sub-inspector Aji P Nair, ASI Manoj Kumar, senior civil police officer Rajith Rajan, and civil police officers K R Dhanesh and Shijo Paul. The arrest was made by the Dansaf team led by narcotics cell assistant commissioner T D Sunilkumar, based on information received by Kochi city police commissioner.
