Complainants try of force the officers to eat expired biscuits
Authorities said proceedings have begun to cancel the shop’s Food Registration Certificate for selling expired biscuits. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : A food safety officer who went to Vaijapur to act on a complaint about expired food being sold at a roadside shop ended up being gheraoed and allegedly forced to eat the very biscuits he had seized, after the complainant and his associates turned on him during the inspection. The officer inspected the shop and seized expired biscuit packets found on sale. At the same time, the department has initiated action against the shop itself for stocking and selling expired food products. The FDA maintained that action would continue on both fronts, against those who allegedly obstructed the officer as well as against the establishment found violating food safety norms.
The incident occurred on Friday at a shop on Ladgaon Road after the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) received a phone complaint that expired food items were being sold there.
