Maharajganj police in Lucknow have submitted a chargesheet against Jordan Brown, a foreign national. Brown was arrested while allegedly attempting to cross the Indo-Nepal border without the necessary travel documents. The legal proceedings will now advance based on the evidence gathered during his apprehension.

The chief judicial magistrate’s court has fixed Sept 7 as the next date of hearing and directed authorities to produce Jordan from Gorakhpur jail on that day. Personnel of the 22nd Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) apprehended Jordan at the Sonauli border on July 11 when he was allegedly trying to enter Nepal without a valid visa or passport, according to officials. A case was registered against him under provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. Following remand interrogation, he was shifted to Gorakhpur jail on July 29.

His nationality was later confirmed by the British Embassy. He was subsequently handed over to the Sonauli police. Police initially identified Jordan as a US citizen in the FIR. However, during interrogation on remand, investigators found that he was a British national. Jordan was first lodged in the district jail in Maharajganj.

Since then, he has been attending court proceedings through video conferencing.
