Traffic Resumes on Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway After Gas Leak
Traffic on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi expressway resumed early Sunday following a gas leak from a GAIL pipeline in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The leak, reported near Takliwadi in Gangapur taluka on Saturday evening, prompted authorities to divert vehicles over a 30km stretch for nearly 12 hours.
As a precaution, traffic was redirected between chainages 447 and 470 via the Dhule-Solapur highway. This sudden diversion resulted in traffic congestion on parts of the expressway late Saturday night as officials worked to secure the area.

“A team of experts engaged in restoring normalcy declared the road safe for public use from 4am on Sunday,” the district administration said. District collector Vinay Gowda G C said GAIL teams immediately isolated the affected section. The area was reopened to traffic after atmospheric monitoring results were found satisfactory,” he said.
“GAIL experts shut the valves on both sides of the affected pipeline, reducing pressure in the line. Fire-fighting teams were kept on standby while officials monitored the site through the night. Download the TOI App.
