Thakur ji Maharaj temple in Ramnagar area of Firozabad where renovation and restoration work is in its final stages
Lucknow: As part of govt’s push to expand its Krishna tourism circuit beyond Mathura and Vrindavan, tourism-related facilities at five temples in Firozabad are being upgraded at a cost of Rs 7.26 crore. Of the five projects, Rs 1.10 crore is being spent on Ramkrishna Dham Temple in Ganga Sagar Gariyari, Nagla Piriya village, while Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Bada Gaon village is being developed at a cost of nearly Rs 1.49 crore. Around Rs 1.35 crore is being spent on the historic Shri Radhakrishna Temple in Aswai village and Rs 1.36 crore on beautification and tourism development of Shri Radhakrishna Temple in Gaunchh village. The largest allocation of Rs 1.96 crore has been made for Thakur Ji Maharaj Temple in Ramnagar village.
Braj’s identity is rooted in Krishna bhakti, which extends beyond major pilgrimage centres. Development of these temples will provide better facilities to devotees and give Firozabad’s places of faith greater recognition. Announcing this on Saturday ahead of Janmashtami , tourism minister Jaiveer Singh said: “Taking Krishna tourism to local centres of faith is a priority of govt.
