Kanpur: A 55-year-old man was shot and killed on Sunday night in the Usrahar police station area of Etawah. The incident reportedly involved five assailants, including two of the victim’s nephews. The shooting stemmed from a minor dispute, although further details about the nature of the disagreement have not been disclosed. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have yet to make any arrests.
One Charan Singh, a resident of Nagla Jalal village, was hit by four bullets after the assailants allegedly fired around 20 rounds, according to police.
ASP (Rural) Shri Chandra said police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to arrest the accused. He was referred from CHC Sarsainawar to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, but died on the way. Police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The accused left a motorcycle at the scene while fleeing. Police collected evidence and searched the fields and jungle but could not trace them. The family’s complaint named Rahul , son of Ausan Singh, Raja alias Rajkumar, son of Ausan Singh, Somesh, son of Shraman Singh and Asit Yadav, son of Baburam, all residents of Udaypura under Friends Colony police station, along with another person. Charan Singh’s brother alleged that someone had instigated Rahul against him. Police are investigating the motive.
Villagers Respond to Gunfire Incident
Following reports of gunfire, villagers quickly arrived at the scene, which prompted the assailants to escape into nearby fields and then towards a jungle. The family involved in the incident claims that the attackers continued to fire while fleeing.
