Kanpur: There appears to be no immediate respite from intermittent moderate to heavy showers as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast continued monsoon activity across all districts of the Kanpur division over the next 24 hours. The forecast for Aug 30-31 indicates a strong possibility of rains accompanied by thunderstorms in several areas.
Severe Weather Conditions Expected in Kanpur Nagar
Kanpur Nagar is poised for severe weather this evening and night, with dense cloud formation leading to heavy rainfall, thunder, and lightning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that humidity levels may exceed 80%, contributing to a significant increase in perceived temperature. The RealFeel temperature is projected to reach between 38°C and 40°C, making conditions feel considerably warmer than the actual temperature.
Despite the overcast conditions, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 33.8°C, while the minimum temperature stood at 25.6°C and the maximum relative humidity was recorded at 92%. Slow north-easterly winds, blowing at a speed of 3.7 to 6.2 kmph, added to the sultry conditions. The city recorded around 3.7 mm of rainfall during the 24 hours preceding Sunday evening.
S N Sunil Pandey, partly to heavily cloudy conditions are expected to prevail over the next five days, according to weather expert at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology. Several areas are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Humidity is expected to remain high whenever the sun makes an appearance. However, light to moderate rainfall in the afternoon brought down the temperature and provided some relief, making weather conditions more comfortable.
