The ADSR was arrested red-handed
Kolkata: An Anti-Corruption Branch team in Kolkata arrested an additional district sub-registrar posted at the Uluberia office in Howrah on Monday for allegedly accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe. The arrest followed a verified complaint from a citizen who claimed the official demanded the money to complete a land registration process. ACB officers set a trap at the Uluberia ADSR office and caught the official while he was allegedly taking the marked cash from the complainant.

Officials recovered the full bribe amount from his possession and took him into custody. A case has been started under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Investigators are now checking whether the official regularly demanded bribes for land registrations and whether other staff members were involved.
