State Congress chief Ajai Rai with the kin of victim family in Budaun
Rai said incidents of murder, rape and loot had increased across the state, while criminals were ‘completely emboldened’. The Congress leader claimed govt and police administration had been reduced to “mute spectators” and alleged that the rule of law had ended in the state. Rai expressed condolences to the family and assured them of his support. He alleged that the incident raised questions over the state’s law and order situation and accused govt of failing to control crime. He also alleged that deaths in police stations were evidence of the deteriorating law and order situation in UP. The youth, identified as Rajesh and resident of Atsena village, had died at Dataganj police station under circumstances that the Congress described as suspicious.
