Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday extended greetings to people on Shri Krishna Janmashtami and urged them to adopt in their lives the message of truth, dharma , karma and “lokmangal” associated with Lord Krishna, while pledging to build a developed and glorious Uttar Pradesh . Addressing the occasion, the chief minister said Lord Krishna’s life reflected the core spirit of welfare-oriented governance and inspired the ideals of “lok kalyankari” administration. He said the state govt was working in line with that spirit to ensure dignity and security for people at the last rung of society, move towards a poverty-free Uttar Pradesh, create opportunities for talented and skilled youth, strengthen support for “annadatas” and enable daughters to progress on an equal footing with sons. Citing Krishna’s bond with Sudama, he said true relationships are built not on position, prestige or prosperity but on warmth, and noted that harmony, equality and warmth were essential needs of contemporary society. The CM said that in times of falsehood and injustice, the light of truth and dharma emerged in the form of Krishna, adding that his childhood stories carried deeper spiritual lessons. He said the butter-stealing episode conveyed simplicity and innocence, Krishna’s warmth with gopas and gopis taught love and social harmony, and the subduing of Kaliya Naag symbolised the victory of dharma over adharma. Referring to the lifting of Govardhan Parvat, Yogi said it underscored the need to protect nature, livestock and agriculture-based life, and that Govardhan Puja highlighted the strength of collective unity in facing major challenges.
Yogi described Krishna not merely as a symbol of nobility but as a figure of harmony who stood with every section of society. He added that Krishna’s teachings on karma, knowledge and duty remained relevant across all times.
