The selected institutions are Sri RD Patil GHS, Koliwad, Hubli rural; Srimati Kamalamma Tirakappa Mantura Independent GJPUC, Nalavadi; GHPS No 2, Annigeri; GHPS Model, Hebballi; GHPS Model, Tadakod; GHS, Yadawad; Smt NC Akki Govt High School, Saunshi; GHS, Adaragunchi; Urdu Higher Primary School, Tabibland; KBS and KGS, Veerapur Oni, Hubballi; GHPS Model No 5 Kannada Boys, Ghantigeri; GHPS, Gamanagatti; GMPS, Unkal; GHPS, Gokul; GHS, Navalur; GHPS, Tambur; GHPS, Gambyapur; GHPS, Manugundi; HPS, Basapur; and GHS, Kusugal. Vinayak Honagudi, headmaster of GHS Gambyapur, said the school currently offered classes from LKG to class 8 and had enrolled 204 students for the 2026-27 academic year. After development, the school would offer classes up to PUC 2.
Officials said the focus is on ensuring children in govt schools receive adequate academic and physical infrastructure. Renuka Amalazari, assistant project coordinator of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, said the selected institutions would receive classrooms, learning materials and other infrastructure. He said additional classrooms, a science laboratory, sports room and computer laboratory would be provided.
The education department hopes the infrastructure push will create a better learning environment and narrow the gap in facilities between rural and urban institutions. They would also be upgraded to offer high school and pre-university education. LKG classes began this academic year.
