Kolhapur: Maharashtra govt on Tuesday constituted an eight-member scrutiny committee to implement the recommendations, made by an ex-judge led one-member commission, to inquire into the suicide of Sampada Mudhe, the doctor attached to Phaltan’s sub-district hospital, who was found hanging in a room of a private hotel.
A one-member inquiry commission, under Sanjay Mehere, the former judge of the Bombay High Court, was constituted by the govt on Dec 2 2025, to conduct a high-level inquiry into the suicide case of Munde. The commission submitted its inquiry report to the govt on May 29 this year. “Accordingly, the scrutiny committee is constituted to prepare the action taken report (ATR), regarding the report submitted by the commission, and the action to be taken by the govt, in light of the recommendations in the report,” states the GR issued by the home department. “The said committee shall scrutinize the conclusions drawn and remedies suggested, and present before the cabinet and the state legislature within 3 months from the date of its constitution,” the GR added.
