In Gorakhpur, four masked men broke into a residence in Tighra village late Monday night. They reportedly stole gold and silver jewelry valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh. During the incident, the assailants held a nine-month-old infant at knifepoint, heightening the severity of the crime. Local authorities from the Pipiganj police station are investigating the robbery, but no arrests have been made yet.
The accused entered the house through an open rear gate around 1 am, according to police. Police have registered a case against unidentified accused and launched a probe. At the time, Pooja , wife of Karan Gupta, had come downstairs carrying her nine-month-old daughter. The intruders allegedly snatched the baby from her arms and placed a sharp-edged knife on the child’s throat, warning the family against raising an alarm. Fearing for her daughter’s life, Pooja opened the room and handed over jewellery kept in an almirah and boxes. The robbers also forced her to remove the earrings, nose pin and mangalsutra she was wearing before fleeing with the valuables.
