Varanasi: Mughalsarai police station in charge Vijay Pratap Singh and head constable of Chakarghatta police station were suspended for behaving inappropriately with public.

Meanwhile, head constable Surendra Pratap Yadav of Chakarghatta police station was accused of hurling abuses during a phone conversation with a junior engineer of electricity department posted at Naugarh on Aug 25.

Chandauli SP Akash Patel said that taking cognisance of some viral video and audio clips, he had ordered departmental inquiries against both cops. Police said that in a viral video, a complainant claimed Singh abused, manhandled and beat him when he visited Mughalsarai police station to seek relief in a criminal matter. The SP said police personnel were directed to discharge duties strictly with discipline, courtesy, sensitivity and accountability always.

Singh, who was initially attached to police lines, abused and assaulted a person who requested for release of an individual in a criminal case. The head constable was accused of threatening a junior engineer of electricity department. Singh was first transferred to police lines pending preliminary scrutiny and was later placed under suspension after the initial findings. The audio clip of the conversation was shared online, prompting authorities to take note of the incident as it affected the image of the police force.
