ABVP Protests for Scholarship Release in Pune
On Tuesday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a protest at the Directorate of Other Backward Classes and Bahujan Welfare in Yerwada, Pune. The demonstration aimed to demand the release of scholarships that were promised by the state government to students who enrolled through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).
Students participating in the protest expressed their concerns, stating that many chose to enroll in CAP rounds after regular admissions, believing that scholarship benefits would still apply. One student highlighted the financial strain this uncertainty has placed on their families.
An ABVP representative emphasized that students who followed the official admission process should not face ambiguity regarding scholarships and fee reimbursements. They called for clear guidelines and prompt action from the authorities.
We want the govt to clearly state whether eligible students will continue to receive these benefits. ABVP representatives argued that admission against vacant CAP seats is an authorised process used by colleges to fill spots remaining after regular rounds and should not be treated as an unauthorised admission route.
Another student added, “Applications for such students were previously accepted on the MahaDBT portal, and some had even received scholarship benefits.
