New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has introduced a new booking mechanism for Ramlila, under which designated open spaces will be kept blocked until Sept 15 to give preference to the societies and trusts that had organised the event at those locations at least twice in the past three years.
According to DDA’s circular issued about the standard operating procedure (SOP) for booking open spaces for this year’s Ramlila, online booking began on Sept 1. If an application is rejected by the executive engineer or the grievance redressal committee, the site will again be blocked till Sept 15 and the booking procedure will be followed afresh, said officials. DDA said the documentary proof of the previous bookings would be verified by the executive engineer concerned within three working days. “However, if there is any dispute over a site, the matter can be referred to the grievance redressal committee headed by the deputy director, institutional land, DDA,” the circular stated. The new terms and conditions will also apply to other religious-recreational events organised on DDA lands, such as Ganesh Utsav and Chhath Puja . The SOP provides for verification through the local police machinery in disputed cases. For spaces not being blocked, booking will be available through the DDA website. The SOP also specifies categories of sites, booking periods, security deposits and applicable charges, and lays down conditions regarding temporary structures, cleanliness, safety and removal of installations after the booking period. DDA has warned that failure to remove tents and other structures within the stipulated period can result in their removal at the risk and cost of the allottee, seizure of material, forfeiture of the security deposit, and blacklisting for future allotments.
