Kanpur: Police have formed multiple teams and are examining CCTV footage to trace intruders who allegedly strangled Uma Kushwaha (58) during a robbery at her home in Sector J, Hasanpur, under Rawatpur police station in Kanpur on Tuesday evening.
Police said Kushwaha was watching television around 5pm when the assailants entered the house for a robbery. DCP (West) SM Qasim Abidi said all aspects related to the incident are being investigated. They strangled her when she resisted them. They then placed her body on a chair to avoid raising anyone’s suspicion. Police and forensic teams examined the scene after being informed. Based on CCTV footage, efforts are being made to identify the accused. The incident will be disclosed soon.
Family Members of Kushwaha Involved in Recent Incident
Kushwaha’s family reported that jewellery valued at Rs 22 lakh and other belongings have gone missing. Her elder son, Amrish, resides separately with his family in Maswanpur. Her younger son, Ashish, is employed as a senior technician in the health ministry in Delhi. Kushwaha’s husband, Shivmangal Kushwaha, operates a book stall.
