Kolhapur : More than three years after an elderly Ichalkaranji resident was fatally assaulted inside his home, a district court has convicted the prime accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder, while eight co-accused have been awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment.
Verdict Delivered in Rajeshkumar Joshi Murder Case
On August 31, additional sessions judge L D Bille delivered a verdict in the murder case of Rajeshkumar Devkishan Joshi. Joshi was attacked at his home in the Mahatma Phule Chowk area on January 2, 2023, and died two days later from his injuries. The detailed verdict has yet to be published.
A case was registered at the Gavbhag police station, with charges including murder, attempted murder, rioting, rioting with deadly weapons, criminal intimidation, and causing bodily harm. The trial commenced in June 2023, during which the court examined 11 witnesses. The prosecution was led by additional public prosecutor H N Mohite Patil.
Key accused Sandip Dattatray Kamble was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, along with a fine of Rs 25,000. Other defendants received sentences of three years of rigorous imprisonment and fines as well.
