I have two sons and my older son has one son. Named after the Vedic philosopher and sage Gargi, the infant has already become a symbol of joy for the family. “We have missed a girl child in our family for so long, especially on occasions like Rakshabandhan and Bhau Beej. The decision to celebrate was made almost instantly. As the chariot rolled through the village, accompanied by dhol-tasha, cymbals and folk performances, family members and villagers joined the procession, turning the newborn’s first journey home into a festival.
