Kolhapur: Family members of doctor Rajendra Rupanvar, who died after a suicide attempt, ended their 36-hour protest and accepted his body only after state govt assured an SIT probe, inclusion of all those responsible in the abetment-to-suicide case, a govt job for a family member and compensation of at least Rs 1 crore. Rupanvar’s relatives had initially refused to take custody of the body after his death on Aug 31. The case stems from an alleged assault on Rupanvar inside Madane’s cabin on July 28.
Because of harassment and workplace pressure, and was also recently assaulted by two men inside the medical superintendent’s cabin, the doctor’s family members claimed he was distressed.
