Kochi : In the case where bus crew members assaulted an autorickshaw driver, the regional transport officer (RTO) has sought an explanation from the owner of the seized bus, named Sajimon. After a detailed hearing, the RTO will submit a comprehensive report to the RTO board which will take a decision on the request of the police to cancel the permit of the bus.
The documents were presented after it was found that fines were pending for roughly 200 traffic violations. On Saturday, Central Police arrested three bus employees — M I Z Nahas, 28, and his brother M I Z Nasarudeen, 38, of Palluruthy and Bristo Mathews, 30, of Kumbalangi — for assaulting Hashim, 54, of Konthuruthy after he questioned the bus crew for attempting to hit his autorickshaw. The incident took place near the petrol pump in front of Ernakulam Town Hall at 7.45pm on Friday.
On Monday, Central Police submitted a request to the RTO seeking cancellation of the permit of the Sajimon bus operating on the Perumbadappu route. The police produced the bus’s RC book and related documents in the district court on Monday.
