Kochi: As part of Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt, Kochi City Police seized 31.38kg of ganja in three cases and arrested four persons over the past three days. Based on the information received by city commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, the Dansaf arrested the accused.
On Wednesday, 5.1kg of ganja was seized from Gandharpa Khura, 27, of Odisha near K P Elsebius Master Road near Ernakulam Town railway station. On Tuesday, during a search conducted at the Manjummel Janatha area within the limits of Eloor police station, 14.13kg of ganja was seized from Ramjan Mondal, 33, of West Bengal. On Monday, during a search conducted on Ernakulam Junction railway station premises, 12.15kg of ganja was seized from two Odisha natives, Adi Nayak, 20, and Himanshu Nayak, 26.

The commissioner said that strict legal action against those engaged in drug trafficking and distribution will continue. Searches have been intensified focusing on railway stations, bus stands, lodges, residences of migrant workers and other key centres, to identify and prevent the networks transporting narcotics to Kochi from other states.
