Nagpur: City police have invoked Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Sumeet Chintalwar syndicate in South Nagpur. On other hand, a gambling den linked to Rushtam and Salauddin in North Nagpur continues to draw goons from across the city.

Additional commissioner of police Vasant Pardeshi on August 29 granted the approval for invoking MCOCA in the case registered at Ajni police station under the anti-narcotics law. The accused are Sumit Chintalwar (32), Aaditya Telgote (23), Karan Gatlewar (27), and Naresh Tekam (32), a native of Lamta in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. Pardeshi recorded that more than one charge sheet had already been filed against the gang in offences punishable with three years or more, and courts had taken cognisance. Convinced that a crime syndicate existed, Pardeshi directed the Ajni Division assistant commissioner of police to conduct an investigation under the supervision of DCP, Zone IV.
