Palakkad : House surgeons at Govt Medical College, Palakkad, have extended their protest indefinitely, citing a lack of facilities and medicines in the emergency department. They alleged that the hospital lacks diagnostic facilities needed to treat accident victims. They were later shifted to Palakkad district hospital.

The doctors continued their duty boycott on Wednesday, raising concerns over the hospital’s ability to provide emergency care. The house surgeons said the strike, which began as a token protest on Tuesday, would continue until facilities, including X-ray and scanning services in the casualty, are provided. The protest intensified after two house surgeons were injured in an accident outside the casualty department on Monday and could not receive emergency treatment at the medical college.
