The girl gave birth to a baby in Rasipuram Government Hospital on Wednesday.
An officer at the Rasipuram all women police station said Mani of Kurukkupatti near Tharamangalam in Salem district was in love with the minor girl and sexually assaulted her. “The girl became pregnant,” the officer said. The girl belonged to a family employed at a brick kiln.
The girl was taken to hospital after developing severe abdominal pain. She gave birth to a baby girl.
