Travis Kelce Addresses Viral Comments on Offseason Physique
Travis Kelce recently responded to viral comments regarding his appearance during the NFL offseason, specifically addressing remarks about fat-shaming and comparisons to a ‘dad bod.’ Speaking on the New Heights Podcast, he remarked, “That s— was so f—ing funny, reading some of these comments… It’s all social media just having fun. And I even laugh at this s—. I mean, it’s f—ing pure comedy.”
Kelce’s comments underscore a common reality for NFL players: their physical appearance can change significantly during the offseason. Factors such as recovery, travel, and personal commitments can affect how athletes look when they are not in game mode, leading to public scrutiny and commentary on social media.
The veteran tight end is preparing for his 14th season and will turn 37 during the campaign. Kansas City opens its season against the Denver Broncos on September 14, giving Kelce little reason to dwell on social-media commentary.
“Well, he came back in good shape,” Reid told the NFL Network. “We’re in the same weight class now,” Kelce told his brother on a two-year-old episode of New Heights, after Jason confirmed that he was 283 pounds. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was quick to dismiss the speculation surrounding Kelce’s shape. Rather than judging his player from a handful of photographs, Reid pointed to what he had actually seen at camp. “I know everybody’s out there saying he’s got the dad body and all this stuff. But he looks the same to me that he’s always looked. And he’s playing like crazy. So he’s doing a nice job with everything. He’s focused in and ready to go. “It’s March! We’re in the same weight class right now. Now, with another NFL season approaching, the bigger story is what Kelce does on the field.
