The accused were identified as Gokulakannan, 20, and six minors aged 17. Police said summons were served on Gokulakannan and four of the minors under Section 35(3) of the BNSS. The accused allegedly posted the message on a social media account a few days ago, according to police. The post reportedly contained threatening remarks intended to create enmity between groups, disturb public peace and provoke hostility among communities. Based on a complaint lodged by the police, the Usilampatti Taluk Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections pertaining to promoting enmity, disturbing public tranquillity and criminal intimidation.
